Do you care about your beautiful nails? ... Part 3

Good Bye 2013

Do you care about your beautiful nails? ... Part 2

How to do a manicure at home

Supplies

  1. Nail Polish Remover
  2. Nail cutter
  3. Nail file
  4. Shampoo
  5. Rock salt / Bath salt
  6. Cuticle cream
  7. Cuticle pusher
  8. Hand cream

Method

  1. Remove previously applied nail polish.
What ever the nail polish remover you use, it extremely dry entire nail area as well as the cuticle. So when you use nail polish remover us very little as necessary to remove the polish and wipe it out as quick as possible
  2. Cut off or file your nails into a shape.
Do not cut your nails too short. Use a nail file to file the nails and create a smooth and clean shape.
Do not file your nails too short. Do not round the corners down into the sides of the nail bed.
  3. Soak your nails.
Get a bowl and fill it with warm (not hot!) water, a few drops of shampoo and rock salt(or bath salt). Soak your hands only for a few minutes. The water and soap will help to loosen dirt, dead skin, and any dust left over from filing and buffing, and soften cuticles.
Use a nail brush to gently clean your nails and the skin around them. Gently scrape under your nails if necessary to remove dirt.
  4. Prepare your cuticles.
Dry your nails and apply a cuticle cream. Using a cuticle pusher gently push back the cuticle. Never cut your cuticles.
  5. Apply hand cream or lotion.
Take a lotion or hand cream and massage it into your hands.

Do you care about your beautiful nails?

As for many ladies in Sri Lanka, we engage with lot of stuff such as cooking, taking care of family, house, running to work ... etc. without taking care of themselves. Some time most of the women as well as men take care of their face and but in the mean time also you damage your nails without even your knowledge such as you bit them, you peel fruits with them, you pop open cans with them .. etc. As a matter of facts we need to take care of our nails and here I like to give you some tips for that.

  1. Wash your hands with care
On daily basis you touch things in public, shake hands and your hands expose to bacteria, dirt, sunlight and more everyday. So it is important to wash your hands frequently and keep it clean all the time.
  2. Apply Cream More often
Though it is so important to wash your hands and clean them, it may cause them dry, cracked and wrinkle. To avoid that you need to apply a hand cream more often and keep your nails and hand moisturized. If you keep neglecting your hand, it may end up needing medical help.
As a habit always keep a hand cream at your handbag.
  3. Have a manicure now and then
You need to have a manicure once in a while to keep your hands in good look and health and feel good. In our next article lets talk have to do a manicure at home.
  4. Wear gloves when you are cleaning.
As a habit wear gloves when ever you plan to do harsh cleaning, gardening ... etc. You might find it uncomfortable at first but it is the best you get used to it.

  5. Do not bite your nails.

  6. Do not cut cuticles, instead of that push them back.

  7. Apply hand cream before you go to sleep.

  8. If nails become discolored, stop using polish for a while.

  9. Manage your stress
Research shows that stress can lead to make the nails more brittle. And also stress also can lead to your old habits such as nail biting.
